Recent research commissioned by the Plastic Soup Foundation shows agricultural land in the Netherlands and Spain to be seriously polluted with microplastics from biodegradable agricultural film. Despite claims that these films would break down 90% within 2 years. These microplastics end up in our food via soil and surface water and threaten our health.

Biodegradable agricultural film is not a good alternative to standard agricultural film. Plastic Soup Foundation advocates for a change in system and mindset, using alternatives such as paper or waste streams from wool production instead of plastics.

With your help, we will appeal to the European Union about their responsibility in revising the EU Fertiliser Regulation that includes the use of this agricultural film.
